Meet the Hurtsboro MCB Family Care Clinic Provider

Meet Pamela Baker

Pamela Baker, NP, Medical Center Barbour Family Care Clinic in Hurtsboro, Alabama.

Pamela Baker, Nurse Practitioner of the MCB Family Care Clinic in Hurtsboro

Pamela Baker is our nurse practitioner for our MCB Family Care Clinic in Hurtsboro, Alabama. She has been a nurse practitioner in our Hurtsboro clinic since September. Pamela received her Bachelors in Sociology from Auburn University, her Bachelors of Nursing from the University of Alabama at Birmingham, and her Masters in Nursing from Auburn University. She is also a member of the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners. Pamela has a 6 month old baby girl named Lucy with her husband Chip, and he has a 12 year-old named Karlee and a 9-year old named Madelyn, both of whom Pamela adores. When she isn’t taking care of patients in the Family Care Clinic, you can find her hanging out on the beach, traveling, hiking, or playing tennis. Although Pamela lives in Auburn, she has a special connection to Hurtsboro through her mother, who owned the pharmacy Moore Drugs for 33 years. Pamela says the reason she loves working in the Family Care Clinic so much is because she knows and takes care of a lot of the patients she has known since her early childhood. Her collaborating physician is Dr. Wesley Marner, who most people know in the area from his longstanding connection as a beloved practicing physician in Eufaula, Alabama.

Meet Dr. Wesley Marner

Pamela Baker, NP with Dr. Wesley Marner, MD

Dr. Marner opened his clinic in Eufaula in 1992, but also worked as a family doctor before that in Greenville, Mississippi. Before he became a doctor, he was actually a nurse who worked in ortho, surgery, and the ER departments in Meridian, Mississippi. He then went on to major in Biology at Southern Mississippi. He went on from there to medical school in West Virginia and worked as a general rotating physician in Carson City, Michigan. He also studied Internal Medicine in Grand Rapids, Illinois and worked at multiple hospitals in that area as well. Dr. Marner grew up in a stable and loving Mennonite home, where he was one of 5 children. He says his father taught him everything he knows outside of medicine, which is quite a lot- Dr. Marner is an accomplished mechanic, gardener, builder, small engine mechanic, and welder. He and his wife are even pilots! He himself has 4 children, three sons and one daughter, and is a proud grandparent as well. When he’s not at the Family Care Clinic working with Pamela, he can be found spending quality time with his wife, Wanda Marie, and their adorable cocker spaniel, Katie. Both Dr. Marner and his wife enjoy living a very outdoorsy lifestyle, living off of the land by growing their own food and eating wild game almost exclusively. Dr. Marner is a huge advocate of Medical Center Barbour– both the hospital and the Family Care Clinics-and believes that rural healthcare is vital to the citizens who live in the country. He says he loves working with Pamela at the MCB Family Care Clinic in Hurtsboro because it keeps him connected to the medical community and to his patients, and because he gets to share his knowledge and experience with Pamela to help her grow.
